Soil Moisture Sensor Integration

(1/1)

Brom:

Just wondering if BlueSpray is still being developed?

Would love to see some sort of soil moisture sensor integration
The ability to stop watering or perform extra watering based on the soil moisture levels.
Also the ability to push an alert if the soil moisture is too low.

Lots of sensors seem to be on the market. Eg

or

We currently support open/close soil moisture sensors such as the Hunter and Toro.  Just connect the sensor to the controller's rain sensor.

However, these sensors only tell you wet and dry.  For more intelligent moisture level monitoring, we'd need to read the sensor's output directly.  We're working on readers for the TDR sensors such as Vegetronix, waterscout, decagon, etc.  Problem is these sensors have low voltage output, require short cable, which cannot reach the controller.  We're developing solutions to collect moisture data from a long distance.

Any update on this? I'm trying to decide what moisture sensor to use. Would the Hunter Soil-Clik Soil Moisture Sensor work?

bluespray_admin:
If it's a on/off moisture sensor, you can connect it to the rain sensor and configure it as a rain sensor.

BTW, there's a nice review of soil moisture sensors on Happy DYI Home web site:
