Feature Request / Re: Smart Phone App Planned?
« on: August 11, 2013, 04:19:18 pm »
There is a smart phone interface for BlueSpray.  It was just not ready when we first launched BlueSpray.  We will release it in the very near future.

It's a web UI, but without the "Lawn view" as you see on our main UI.  It will have the look and feel of an app, but you don't have to install anything.  Some of the functions that you see on the main UI won't be on the phone UI: Lawn view, add/delete zones, update firmware.  But you can do pretty much everything else.  We will announce its availability in our firmware release topic soon.

Help / Re: Controller IP configuration
« on: August 04, 2013, 10:22:43 pm »
Configuring the controller to join your home router is very quick and easy.

BlueSpray controller can run in 2 wireless modes: "Stand alone" and "Internet".

In "Stand alone" mode (by default), the controller actually is in AP or Master mode, which means it is practically a wireless router, but without internet access.  It is designed for you to have direct connection to the controller so that you can enter your home router information.  In this mode the controller has an SSID called bluespray.  On your computer or laptop, just join the bluespray SSID, type http://192.168.1.1 in your browser and you are connected directly to the controller.

Click on the "Settings" tab, then click on "System".  In the Wifi section, select "Internet" for mode, enter your home router SSID.  You can also click on the wifi button to search for wireless networks that are in range of the controller.  Locate your wireless network, then click "OK".  Select the encryption type your router operates, enter the passphrase, then click on "Save".

Once you click "Save", the controller will attempt to join your home wireless network with the information that you entered.  You should see a popup that tells you to rejoin your home wireless network and click "OK".  If you've entered all the information correctly, the controller should be able to join your home wireless network, and get on the internet on its own.  You then will be redirected to the controller at its new IP address obtained from your router.

We will post some tutorial videos in the up coming days.  Please check back.  If you have any questions at all, please ask by posting on this forum or email our support team directly.  Thanks.

Help / Re: IP address
« on: August 04, 2013, 09:56:41 pm »
That should not be a problem.  The IP address 192.168.1.1 is the IP address which the controller uses for you to temporarily connect to it.  Once you made the controller in Internet mode, it will not use 192.168.1.1 any more, but whatever the IP address your router assigns to it.

Help / Port forwarding for openwrt
« on: July 29, 2013, 02:19:36 pm »
According to openwrt wiki:

http://wiki.openwrt.org/doc/howto/port.forwarding

Port forwarding can be done by editing the /etc/config/firewall file:

config redirect
   option name 'bluespray'
   option src 'wan'
   option proto 'tcp'
   option src_dport '8080'
   option target 'DNAT'
   option dest 'lan'
   option dest_ip '192.168.2.7'
   option dest_port '80'

Help / Port forwarding howtos

Port forwarding from your router allows you to access your BlueSpray controller from any where on the internet.

Port forwarding is configured differently on different routers, but the idea is the same.  Your router has a public IP address.  BlueSpray controller (assumed to be on the network) has a private IP address.  The router blocks all direct requests to all of the devices in its network by default, but you can configure it to bypass it.

The idea is to open a port on the router's public interface that forwards  all requests to BlueSpray controller.  BlueSpray has a web server that listens to 4 ports: 80, 8000 (http) and 443, 8443 (https).  You don't want to use these ports on your router because you might need them to access your router.  You should use different port, for example, router:8080 -> controller:80 or router:8443 -> controller:443.  If your controller can only do port translation, you can use router:8000 to controller:8000 or router:8443 to controller:8443.  Note that you can also change these 2 ports (8000 and 8443) in Settings->System.

Port forwarding will fail at times if your controller's IP address is dynamic.  Since it it dynamic, it can change from time to time.  When it changes, the router will forward to the wrong IP address.  What you will need to do is reserve a fixed or static IP address for your controller.  Different routers has different ways to reserve IP address.  Please consult your router's User Manual for instructions on how to do it.

If you have any info about your particular router, please share it here.

Announcements / BlueSpray is officially released
« on: July 27, 2013, 04:26:15 pm »
At long last.  BlueSpray controller is now available to the general public.  Pricing is $229.99 for 8 zones, $279.99 for 16 zones, and $329.99 for 24 zones.  If you need more than 24 zones, please contact support for information.

Please not that this release does not include the mobile interface.  We do have a separate mobile interface, but we feel that it wasn't up to our standard at launch time, so we held it back.  We will release it in the next firmware update and will let you know.

General Discussion / Re: Manual Control of Controller
« on: July 27, 2013, 04:22:09 pm »
Tommy,

There are 2 ways to start a manual run:

1. Click on each individual zone - use this if you want to water each zone i.e. for testing, etc.
2. Click on the "Manual run" (faucet) icon on the status panel - you will be presented a list of zones to run.  In addition, you can tell the controller when to start the manual run.
